First Annual
Great River Golf Club
2007 Corporate Challenge
October 4th, 2007
Proceeds to Benefit The Connecticut Hospice, Inc.

- The 1st Annual Great River Golf Club Corporate Challenge, held on October 4th, was a tremendous event and great success for those who participated. In the end, over $14,000 was raised for our benefiting charity, The Connecticut Hospice, Inc., which in no small part was due to our generous sponsors and participants including Heineken USA, Turner Construction, Sysco Food Services, and Gexpro Corporation.

- Fourteen companies from across the region competed in this unique, 4-man best ball net format, all vying for the top prize - a 2008 Corporate Membership to Great River valued at $35,000.

- After 18 holes of regulation play, 6 companies were within 3 shots of the lead held at 15 under par by the team from Media Network, Incorporated and the team from Sacred Heart University.

- A sudden death play-off commenced after regulation play to decide the winner of the tournament. The play-off between Media Network and Sacred Heart lasted three holes until Boris Mizhen, owner of Media Network, drained a 5 foot par putt to beat out a hard charging Sacred Heart team. Sacred Heart missed two opportunities for par to extend the play-off, which began on hole #9; and carried over to holes #1 and #2, before finally being decided on hole #2.

- Prizes were awarded to the top 6 places, with Media Network taking the top prize and Sacred Heart finishing second. In ranking order, Golf Digest took third place, Vogue Electric came in fourth place, Gexpro Corporation came in fifth place, and the team from Cleveland Golf rounded out the top 6 finishing at 13 under par.

- Plans are now underway for Great River Corporate Challenge 2008, being held on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008.
